Vaccines & Preventatives  dog cat and heart

alt Keeping your pets up to date on vaccinations is a great way to ensure your pets protection against many common illnesses and diseases. Below you will find a list of vaccines, along with other preventatives measures, for both dogs and cats.

Canine vaccines

Rabies

Distemper/Parvo

Bordetella

Crotox (Rattlesnake vaccine)

Leptospirosis

Canine Bivalent (H3N2 & H3N8) Influenza vaccine

Heartworm Screening – Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes and live in the heart and the lungs of infected dogs and cats, which can cause lung and heart failure and clotting of the arteries. ATX protocol is to use a heartworm antigen panel annually to screen for heartworm.

Proheart 12, is a vaccine we do carry that would be an entire year of protection from heartworms. This would help with no gaps on taking the medication monthly.

Cytopoint, is a popular injectable that is made to work like your dog's own immune system to relieve environmental allergic dog itch. It blocks the protein that sends signals that trigger itch, so the constant scratching can stop. (see more on Allergies and Dermatology)

Internal parasite Screening – fecal samples are tested for the most common intestinal parasites and eggs, including tapeworms (usually from ingesting a flea) roundworms, whipworms, hookworms, and giardia. ATX protocol is recommended when parasites are seen, or when vomiting and diarrhea occur. We offer both Heartgard, and Nexgard for preventatives. These are monthly prescriptions for your dog to help prevent heartworms and fleas.
